The Basic Rules

Step 1: Everyone submit ten or so albums. These do not have to be your favorite albums of all time, but they can be from any era, genre, etc. I suggest choosing some albums you've been enjoying the last few years, whether they were just released or you just recently discovered them. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. The whole theme this time is easy-going death match.

You can choose albums that you had one previous lists, but I would advise avoiding ones that already got a lot of play.  If you had something that lost in the first round, though, and you're convinced that that was an absolute oversight/fluke, go ahead and resubmit.

Step 2: Rather than assigning different people to different albums, everyone is going to vote on every match-up. To keep things moving, you'll have just a day or two to submit your vote. If you don't vote in that time, sorry, we're moving forward. You can write a rationale for why you chose the album you did, and you can try and persuade others, provide humor, rip someone a new ahole or whatever, but entries should be short. There is no pressure to write an ingenious, ground-breaking, creative thesis to support your vote even though I know you're all capable of it. Easy-going! That's it. There's no prize and therefore no scoring. So, let's get going. Start sending in your lists...

  1. May we have more than a day or two to vote? There will be many days in the coming months in which we won't be able to listen to two albums...but that doesn't mean that this would have to drag out for months and months, either.

    1. I think generally we'll stick with a couple days, but if you miss one vote, you can jump right back in on the next one. We'll give it a shot for now, but if everyone hates doing it this way, we can change it up.

    1. Great list, Steve. I'm going to copy it and post it as its own entry so everyone can comment. And anyone else publishing lists should feel free to do the same.

    2. As per guidelines?
Should these be albums albums that are readily available on popular networks such as grooveshark or what the kids call "spotify?"

    3. Pick whatever you like, but I have a feeling that if you go with a 7" only available at Brooklyn basement shows, you're not going to get a lot of votes. Know what I'm sayin?
