  1. That last song on this Wilco album is a doozy! I really like it. They've always been a strong last song on the album band. But the rest of the album sounds like they're playing it a bit too straightforward for my taste.

I vote for Jean Grae. I think its a pretty strong album in a genre with too much big dick bravado.

And the Das Efx homage of the album cover?! Who's with me?! Where'd Eric Smith go?

  2. Word. I respect that cover, Joe L. That Das Efx album is the first in the hip hop rack at my local library branch, so I see it a lot. I haven't listened to this album yet, but I have heard Jean Grae "featured" on numerous "left-field" hip-hop tracks. She cool. I haven't listened to this Wilco album in a long time, but I remember thinking it was a little low key and noodly. I still like "Being There" best, with "Summer Teeth" a close second.

  3. I think this is my favorite post-Being There Wilco album. I get a little geeky about the noodling, especially on "Impossible Germany." No joke, I just listened to the guitar jam part of that again to make sure I actually did like it and it kind of reminded me of Phish and so now I'm listening to "A Live One." If that doesn't drive people to vote for Jean Grae, I don't know what will. I did enjoy that album, but I think it probably comes down to being less into hip hop generally than whatever you call Wilco. I vote Sky Blue Sky.

  4. You were right. That cemented my vote for Jean Grae. I hadn't listened to her in a few years, and I like what I hear. Applause to Wilco for being Wilco, though.

  5. I'm probably gonna have to vote for Wilco, even though Bruce's post definitely gives me pause. (Phish = barf). I just have never been able to get into hip hop. I'm not trying to be negative. It's all my fault.

I never really liked this Wilco album too much. My favorite is Summerteeth and it's not even that close. I could say more, but I won't.

  6. Bored with hip hop tonight. Bored with Wilco, too. But I'll vote Wilco.
